Father's Day and Trip To Galveston

Before our trip to Galveston, mommy, Gizzie, and I were busy preparing for Father's Day. We made dad a steak dinner, strawberry pie, and art.
We also bought him a MP3 player, 2 shirts, and a movie. We gave him a present every day starting on Thursday till Sunday to spread them out and because a vacation would start on Sunday.

On Sunday, we stayed at my Grandparent's house. We took Granddaddy out for dinner for Father's Day too. I have fun playing at my Grandparent's.

Monday morning, we left Gizzie at my grandparent's and headed for Galveston. We were afraid the bad weather was going to continue, but we were lucky and had great weather.

We got to Galveston early before Moody Gardens opened so we stopped for donuts and walked on the beach. I saw a beach for the first time and was in awe of it.
After the beach, we went to Moody Gardens. We went to the Rainforest Pyramid, Aquarium Pyramid, and Palm Beach. My favorite was Palm Beach!!! It is a beach/pool/park. I loved the water slides. There was a section that had an octopus on top of a submarine. You can climb on top of the octopus and slide down on one of 4 slides or you can go inside the submarine to play and slide as well. I went down them all and had a ball!

At 2:00, we left for our hotel at the San Luis Resort. I fell asleep before we left the Moody Gardens' parking lot. Not wanting to wake me up, mom and dad drove up and down the seawall a couple times to be sure I took at least a 30 minute nap. Good thing they did because as soon as we drove up to the hotel I was wide awake ready for more fun.

The hotel was really pretty. We had a room with a balcony that overlooked the beach and pool. We sat on the balcony at times with a sippie cup as we watched the waves and birds.
I wasn't allowed to go on the balcony by myself, but I could watch the waves and birds through the glass. We showered and played in the hotel room for a little while. I played with a couple of my usual toys that mom packed, but what I really cared for was my new beach shovel set and a full length mirror.
We got dressed up and headed out. Here is the entrance to our hotel.

For dinner, we walked to the Rainforest Cafe. You eat in a jungle surrounded by animals that is inside a Volcano. You can see the Volcano go off from our room. It is the second time I have been to one and I love it. This one was a little different in that it also had a boat ride called the Rainforest's River Adventure Ride. Mom said it was a ride similar to what I can expect one year at Disney. Along the boat ride, it is real dark and all these animals jump out at you. I wasn't scared at all. Mom got scared on the snake and spider sections. It was a lot of fun! Here are pics from the ride.

We came back to the hotel and went to the hotel pool. Mom and Dad did the big person's slide. It was too rough and fast for me. Then I practiced swimming in the pool. We got thirsty so we swam up to the pool bar and mom and dad had a beer and I had a (non alcoholic) Shirley Temple. I could have kept playing, in fact I threw a small temper tantrum when we left the pool. I didn't want the day to end, I was having so much fun.

I went right to sleep in the hotel without any problems (in Pac n play). Mom and dad went out on the balcony for a little while I went to sleep.

The next morning, we had juice and coffee on the balcony and watched the birds and waves. It was peaceful. We were hungry so we walked to I-Hop. Yum, pancakes!

Tuesday we went back to Palm Beach since I had so much fun on the water slides. This time I took my shovel beach set with me. I went back and forth between the water slides and playing in the sand making sand castles.

We had a picnic then headed to my Grandparent's. We picked up Gizzie...vacation was over. I had so much fun! I can't wait to do something like that again. I did miss Gizzie though, I have given him tons of kisses and hugs since we have been home.
This was only a one night trip, can you imagine how long this blog would have been had it been a week. : )
