Young Writers Tea - Mary
I was invited to Mary's "Young Writer's Tea". It was the last hour of the school day, my administration got someone to cover my last class so that I could go be a mom. I am so glad that I did. They had it decorated with pretty flowers and pink table clothes. We had yummy cookies, fruit, and rice krispy treats with pink lemonaide. Then every child got up to a microphone and read their book. All books were titled, "When I..." It brought tears of joy and laughter to me as a mom as well as a teacher there I enjoyed it as these innocent young 1st graders future teacher. I get them when they become teenagers, so it was so good to hear how they want their life to be. It was truelly precious! See video of Mary's.
Here are other pictures from it.
After they all took their turn presenting, they gave us a Big pizza box with a lot of writing samples from the beginning of the year to the end of the year. It was amazing to see the growth in their spelling, writing, and handwriting.
Then yesterday, the kids got to release butterflies in the new butterfly garden at school. Here is a picture of Mary and I at school before our release. Our butterflies are in the white papers. It is wonderful that Mary and I are working and going to the same school. Next year, Sarah will come over as well!
