Allergies?

Mommy and I stayed home from school today. I never really got over my sickness from last time. My cough went away for a while, but I still had a runny nose. I felt great though and played my heart out. But the last couple of days my bad cough and goopy red infected eyes came back. I didn't feel good!
This morning I went with mom to work to get ready for a sub. As she did her thing, I sat in a middle school desk to play with stickers, read books, and colored. Mom had me sit in a desk of a student that has been giving her grief lately. Just kidding, she wiped down the desk before we left. Mom said that I looked cute sitting in a big kid's desk.

We went to the doctor today. They said that this could be allergies, since I haven't had a fever the whole month that I have been playing around with these symptoms. I had the blood test last May which came back negative, but I might have to go through a scratch test next week. Mom and dad both had allergies as kids and had to take shots. That doesn't sound like fun, but I want to feel better. Speaking of shots, they still gave me my flu shot while I was there. That hurt! I cried a lot!

After the doctor, we had to go to Walgreens to get the prescriptions. Mommy bought me two new books. They made me feel better.

We layed around all afternoon and I didn't want to take a nap. Mommy made me a pallet on the floor of toys, pillows, new books, sippie cup, and animal crackers for a snack in front of the TV. I love pallet time when I am sick. It makes me feel better.

I had a good time with mommy today. We cuddled a lot! By late in the evening I looked and felt a lot better. We will see how the night goes and how I look in the morning to see whether I have to miss school again. It's ok if I miss school because Granddaddy will come take care of me tomorrow. Maybe I should fake it just so I can be with him. Just kidding!

At least allergies aren't the new daycare's fault unlike all the other weird things I came up with at the other place...if allergies is what this is....

Fun Sunday!

Sunday we joined some friends at a New Orleans restaurant. I liked the bead necklaces!
After lunch, we went to a store to buy my portable DVD player for a future trip. I got to try it out when we got home. I loved it!! Here is a picture from a month ago that we forgot was on our phone.

Knock, Knock!

It's been a long time since I've blogged, but I haven't been sick as often. That was my main source for blogging. Believe me, I am not complaining! It is a blessing to be in good health. What is that knocking noise I hear? Dad didn't get that joke...I meant Knock on wood that I stay healthy.

I am still loving my new school. I am learning so much there. Everyday mom picks me up from school...she's falling more and more in love with it. Here are some of the new things I have done at school:

Glued some nuts on a squirrel (sorry acorns)...

Learned about different types of leaves (Maple, Birch, and Oak) with an art project...

We went on a nature walk today at school and did an art project about it.
Those are the real leaves I picked up on our walk.

I have learned so much at this school. I can use the spoon so much better that my parents can give me oatmeal without making a huge mess. I have even learned how to use my other hand to hold the bowl while using my other hand to scoop. Mom has a video, but doesn't know how to do that yet. Maybe a video will come later.
I can color a lot better now too. I hold down the paper with my other hand, making it easier to color with the other.

Here are some of my teacher notes from the past 2 weeks at school:

9/ 10 "Mary loved the spaghetti! She ate 2 BIG servings. Mary pushed her chair in all by herself. I'm so proud of her!"
9/11 "Mary had so much fun during Music and Movement. She sang, clapped her hands, and tapped her toes. She had a Great Tuesday!"
9/13 "Mary enjoyed pouring and spooning rice in the sensorial table with her friends. Mary always gets the knobbed cylinders during Montessori work time. She'll sit on her rug for a long time doing it over and over again, concentrating so hard."
9/ 20 " Mary went on a nature walk today. We gathered leaves, listened for birds, and looked for squirrels. Mary is so happy! I love watching her run, play, and laugh with her friends. She's such a happy outgoing little girl!"

Bedspread, Storage, and Doctor

Yes, you read it right...I went to the doctor this weekend. I have had a bad cough for a week now that got progressively worst. By Friday the cough started to get "wet" and deep with a runny nose and low fever as well. I had a dry cough before the new school started so too soon to say whether the new school will be the same. I love my new school and I don't want to quit. I wasn't sick all summer, but since the first school has started I have seen the doctor 3 times this month. I am trying to stay hopeful that the new school is the answer or I will have to be "home schooled". Time will tell.

On another note, Mom bought my new bedspread and Daddy put together a new toy storage unit this weekend.

I hope that I don't have a fever in the morning so that I can go to school.

Happy!

This is written in my mom's point of view...

I could not be happier with Mary's new school. It really feels like she is at school and not a daycare. The other school was called a school, but after being in this one her old one was more of a daycare. There is a difference. One babysits and the other teaches. She is learning a lot of new things. More importantly Mary is so happy!

Surprising enough 2 friends of Mary's from her other school switched too this week. I wonder if they left for the same reasons? It might have helped Mary's transition to have some familiar faces in her new school. Hopefully the sickness won't follow. But sickness aside, I am so happy that we moved Mary to a new school. She is getting a lot more out of this school. They have show and tell, Paul's Pizza days, music / dance, picnic days, art days, math days, books of the week, and a real curriculum that they actually follow with parent newsletters. I could name a million things this school does better.

Here are 2 other classwork that Mary brought home from this week to add to our fridge. One is her classroom rules that Mary glued pictures to represent the rules. The other is painting with fall colors.

Mary's teacher gives all her student's a journal that she writes in about their progress at the end of the week. Here is what Mary's first entry was from her teacher: "Mary has adjusted so well to school and enjoys playing with all of her friends. Ms. Tina is introducing her to Montessori by showing her to get her rug, choose her work off the shelf, work with it, then putting it back, and choosing something else to work with. Mary is doing Great! She's been having fun singing songs and listening to stories. Mary loves dancing to music. She's a good eater and always eats all of her lunch. She really likes the Graduate Meals. We're working with her on using her spoon instead of her hands. Mary takes a 2 to 2 1/2 hour nap everyday. She's a sweet, smart, and happy little girl. We've enjoyed having her here. Ms. Nina "

I can't imagine how happy we all will be if her health gets better too. So far, so good! : )

A Fresh Start

I started a new school today. Mom and dad bought me a new dress by Ralph Lauren for the special occasion. I felt very cute in it.

I had a great day at school! I made new friends, played with new toys, and I learned a lot from my new teachers. Here is one of the things that I made today. Notice my stamp in the left hand corner! : )When mom came to pick me up, I was so happy to see her but also happy to show her my new classroom. I pointed out all the new things and friends that I made. I was so happy, which seemed to make mommy happy too. Hopefully this school will be a lot better in which I will be happier and healthier. Here is to a fresh start at a new school! I can't wait to go back tomorrow...pizza day!

The Piggy Quilt

It isn't glamorous yet, but I have a new bed. My toddler bed was too small, so it was time to move the big bed in my room. I slept good in the big bed and I love it. I am used to a big bed from my grandparent's house.

Mom still wants to decorate it in butterflies, but hasn't found one that she likes yet. Till then, I am using mom's childhood favorite quilt, The Piggy Quilt!
