Thanksgiving Weekend

We celebrated Thanksgiving at my Aunt Tara's. I had fun playing with my cousins and being with the family.

We decorated our house inside and out for Jesus' birthday, Christmas.
My parents bought me a play Nativity set.

We dressed up warmly and went for a walk to see all the houses decorated in our neighborhood. (Daddy says: Look at the pair of cuties!)

I went to Sunday School at my mom's work (Church). I had a great time learning about Advent and Jesus' Birthday coming up! I can't wait!!!

Santa

Yes, I know Thanksgiving isn't even here yet, and I sat in Santa's lap already. Last year, we never got to see him because the line was always over an hour wait. We weren't going to miss out this time. We only waited 5 minutes today!! I would rather go early than not at all. It gives Santa plenty of time to organize my toy list. He signed my cast too!

I am walking everywhere now. See video:

From Purple to Pink

I saw the Pediatric Orthopedic Doctor today at Texas Children's. More on that at the end of this blog. First here are some pictures of my time at the mall with my granddaddy earlier in the week.

Now for my doctor visit today. I saw a lot of other kids with boo boo's similar to mine. The doctor gave me a baby doll to play with. I worked with the doctor to put a cast on the baby doll. It helped me to understand what they were going to do with me.

They took off my purple splint and put on a hot pink full leg hard cast. I only have to wear it for 2 weeks! Yea, I will have it off before Christmas and no therapy afterwards either. Yea!

Luckily, it is a walking cast. They put a small shoe on my cast to help me walk.

I didn't want to walk at the doctor's office. I was still scared.

After we got home, I crashed from my hard morning for a long 3 hour nap. Afterwards, mommy took me to see my friends and teachers at school for a few minutes. I am not going to school for a while till I learn how to walk with this thing. I am going to continue to stay home with my Granddaddy.

People have started to sign my cast.

After dinner, I tried to walk. I can walk with someone holding my hand. I am having to practice like I am a baby again just learning to walk. It is hard to walk with your leg straight. Every once in a while I can let go of my parent's hands and walk a few steps by myself. I am very wobbly though. By the end of the week I bet I get the hang of it. Here is a video of me trying to walk.

Disney On Ice

Mom took me to see Disney on Ice this afternoon with a friend from work who also took her daughter. I had so much fun! It really helped boost my spirits with my leg issue.

As we waited for it to start, we bought souvenirs and ate pizza! We were so close, 4th row! I saw Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Pluto, Goofy, Donald Duck, Cinderella, Snow White, Buzz Light year, The Incredibles, Alice in Wonderland, and so many many more!!! I was hoping that Minnie Mouse would sign my splint, but oh well at least I saw her!

The story is that The Incredibles go to Disneyland as a regular family. They take you through a lot of rides and parades at Disneyland. It was very close to going to the real park. We saw the Tikki Room, Jungle Book, Small World, Jungle Cruise, Pirates of the Caribbean, The Haunted Mansion, Runaway Railroad, Space Mountain with Buzz and so many more. The Parade was great when everybody would come out!! Things end up going wrong and The Incredibles have to save Mickey and Minnie Mouse. I had a blast!

Alice in Wonderland...

Haunted Mansion part...
It's a Small World Ride... Pirates of the Caribbean...
Parade with Cinderella...
and Snow White...

I had my first cotton candy today. Yummy!
Soon as we got home, I crashed on the couch even with the vacuum running. I was out! I had a great time!

Scootches

I stayed home from school all week with my leg in the splint. I see the Orthopedic doctor next Wednesday at Texas Children's for a cast or boot. I hope that I get something that I can walk on.

Granddaddy has taken great care of me all week and has stayed the night with us all week. Slumber Party!! I have a lot of toys set up downstairs on the couch to keep me entertained.

The first two days it rained a lot so we strolled around the house for something different to do.

When the weather got better he took me to the mall to ride the carousel a couple times this week and to have lunch with mom one day.

I cry in pain from time to time, sometimes it is just a "I'm Frustrated with this thing" type of cry. I have learned to get around using my arms and one good leg scooting on my rear. I will even chase Gizmo just scooting around. See short video:

Another Emergency Room

If you didn't read yesterday's blog about me going to the ER, read the previous blog first!

I had a very, very rough night last night. I cried and screamed all night long in pain. This morning mom wanted to get a second opinion. Mom called my regular doctor, who told us to take me to the ER downtown at Texas Children's Hospital, the same hospital that took care of me when I had my first pneumonia. So we packed our bags just in case and headed down there. I was in a lot better spirits this afternoon.

We spent the whole day back in another hospital. I still will not walk, but they could move my legs and hips more. I was doing really, really good with the potty, but this injury has caused my diaper to go back on. I hope I can get back to normal soon.
They ordered more X-rays. I liked wheeling around in the wheel chair. My baby (Pooh Bear) liked it too.

After a lot more testing, they said that my hip is perfectly fine. Praise God! And thank you Texas Children's Hospital! The other hospital was wrong. Note to self, next time we just need to always head straight to Texas Children's Hospital! They know their stuff!

They said it isn't my hip, but that I do have a fracture of the Tibia just below the knee. I kept telling everyone it was my knee and not my hip. It does not affect the growth plate and since it isn't the hip as previously diagnosed, no surgery is needed. They wrapped me up in a splint till I go to the Texas Children's Orthopedic doctor this week for a cast. I got to choose my color for the split, purple!! I was a real trooper!

At home I am all set up on the couch. My parents bought some stickers and coloring things to do on the couch. I am going to be on the couch a lot for a while. They do not make crutches for my age -so how old was Tiny Tim?

Mom painted my toes for the first time tonight. I liked it, and said that it tickled. They look pretty!

Emergency Room

The day started off great...started, but didn't end that way!

I did my usual Saturday morning gymnastics. I love gymnastics, especially the part where I get to jump on the trampoline. So I was excited to go to my cousin Benjamin's B-day party where he had a trampoline. I was on it for 5 to 10 minutes with my cousin Katy when I got hurt. I didn't fall off, just landed on it wrong. Everyone thought that maybe I just got scared when I fell. But after a while, when I couldn't even walk and wouldn't stop crying they knew I was seriously hurt.

We went to the local ER near by in Kingwood and did several X-rays. I kept complaining about my knee, but the X-ray doesn't show anything on my knee even though swollen. It shows that I have an injured or rotated hip. I might have a sprained knee too, but nothing the X-ray could show with the knee. I have not moved my whole left leg since it happened. I just layed in the hospital bed. If I barely moved it, I cried in pain.

After many hours in the ER, they sent me home with a shot of codeine. I have to follow up with the Orthopedic to see what happens next. Keep me in your prayers for a speedy recovery!

The Best Part About My Halloween!

I had so much fun on Halloween. First, I was glad that I got to go to school on Halloween. The day before I had to stay home from throwing up all night. Luckily, it was just what I ate before bed and not a stomach bug so I could enjoy Halloween. Note to self, don't eat a lot of grapes before bed. It did not agree with me at all that night.
At school, we wore crazy hats and went from classroom to classroom trick-or-treating. I came home with tons of candy and toys.

I liked the spider rings.

Halloween also marked the day that mom was officially done with her afterschool activities-volleyball, basketball tryouts (she isn't coaching it though), and parent conferences. She kept saying, "Once Halloween is here, I will be able to pick you up early from school and be with you more." She picked me up early from school. That was a good treat!

Daddy also came home early from work. He has been working a lot of horrible hours lately. So I enjoyed the good family time yesterday as well.
Daddy and I carved a pumpkin.

Then it was time to get dressed up. I was Snow White!

We tried to dress up Gizmo in a couple outfits too. He didn't care for it much.

We did our usual tradition, of going over to my Cousin's house for a little while to see everybody's costumes and be with the family.

Then we came back home to Trick or Treat at a few houses in our neighborhood.

I enjoyed eating a few pieces of my candy later. I wanted to eat it all, but mom and dad are making me pace myself. Shucks!

As I ate my candy, we turned on our light to signal to people that we were giving out candy too. I loved passing-out candy to the people that came to the door. Most of them wore cute costumes, but once I went to the door (with mom and dad) and this thing came out of the shadows in a big scary costume. I screamed, yelled, and ran away as fast as I could. Then turned away and laughed and said "silly boy." Minnie Mouse also came to the door, too.

I had a great Halloween. The best part wasn't the candy or the costumes, it was being with my family!
